The Gold Star Families Memorial Project, founded by Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams, places uniform monuments at memorial sites around the country. The monuments recognize the importance of homeland and families for their role in molding and guiding our youth in the direction of service to country and pays tribute to the ultimate sacrifice of the service member as well as the life-long sacrifice of the surviving family members.
